CAREER

A career on the attack

Alessandro Ballan’s cycling history has been marked by the style of an attacker, born to be a man of the classics, with a particular flair for those of the north, where his temperament is at its best and where he has won one of the most important races on the international calendar.

The shot in Piazza Monte Grappa

A legendary victory at the 2008 World Championships in Varese, where he triumphed as a true outsider, wearing the world champion’s jersey  on Italian soil, one of the greatest satisfactions an Italian athlete can ask for.

King of Flanders

His character as a champion is partly shaped and nurtured by his Flemish side, as a guy inextricably linked to cobblestones and the call of the north. Flanders 2007 was his greatest triumph on the cobbles, through a sprint on the Geraardsbergen and by outsprinting  the Belgian Leif Hoste.
